What is a Heelwork to Music Training Show?
A Heelwork to Music training show is set up as though it is an actual Kennel Club licensed competition, but handlers are able to use both toys and food to train their dog in the ring (food is strictly never allowed in the ring at a Kennel Club licensed show, even if you do a “training round”). Handlers are watched by an experienced Heelwork to Music judge and can request feedback. Handlers get 3 opportunities to train their dog in the ring, up to 4 minutes each time.
Why?
We believe it is a good idea to proof your training/routines in a variety of different venues, in a competition set up, to give your dog the best chance of success when actually competing. It is also great to receive feedback from different Heelwork to Music judges and trainers to get some different perspectives.
